If my child is younger than the suggested age requirement,
can he or she join the class?
Classes are specifically designed to meet the abilities and attention
span of a particular age group, so it is best to stay within the suggested
age group.
Why do you have an outline on the compositional guides? Can
my child draw their own outline?
Since level 1 and 2 classes are only 2 hours long, we wouldn't have
enough time to draw the composition first.
We would need to extend the length of the class in order to accommodate
drawing time. If a child wants to prepare a drawing before class,
they are welcome to use their own drawing during class.
I also found that students of all ages like the outline because then
they don't feel nervous about the activity. Students are free to fully
concentrate on learning Impressionism and develop their painting skills
since the outline is already provided. I always tell people that once
they learn Impressionistic painting in class, they can then go home
and apply their knowledge to their original compositions.
What is Interpretive Impressionism™?
Interpretive Impressionism™ is the name that Debra Stasiak created
for her Aspiring Artists™ products. Ms. Stasiak notes, "If
Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir were all
together painting the same field, they would each create a different
painting based on their interpretation of how the light was reflecting
off of their subject matter.”
This concept is true in Aspiring Artists classes as well. Even though
each child is studying the same painting and technique, their paintings
will appear different due to their own personal touch and interpretation.
Interpretive Impressionism™ teaches the brushstrokes and layering
techniques of Impressionism, although the unique lesson format was
specifically designed by Debra Stasiak for Aspiring Artists™.
The company’s exclusive step-by-step “interpretive”
system enables students, of all ages, to create amazing renditions
of the most beloved paintings of all time!
